Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to sell your current home and/or to buy a new nest?  Maybe you are not ready to answer that question but have vowed to start decluttering and thinking about a possible next step

We at Schooner have lots of experience with these transitions. We are ready to answer any questions you may have and help you deal with all aspects of home ownership.

Do you want to ease into the process or jump in with both feet?

For our Sellers:

On the fence about selling? I can come by and give you an idea of what it might take to get your house ready to market and how much it is worth.  I would be happy to advise and assist with organizing and decluttering so both you and potential buyers can see how great your house is. Have questions about a new home? I can give you a realistic view of the process and costs whether you plan to go big or downsize.

Are you a seller looking for the right time to list?  People frequently wait until March to put their house on the market thinking that is when the biggest audience will be looking.  However, Santa Cruz has suffered from a lack of houses for sale for quite some time.  Plenty of buyers are waiting for your home right now.  With the promise of rising interest rates, they would love to purchase a new home sooner rather than later.  So, don’t wait any longer – the current economic picture favors multiple offers, top sales prices and quick closes.

For our Buyers:

I know it has been a discouraging six months if you are searching for the perfect home in Santa Cruz. And you may be getting anxious as interest rates creep higher.  Don’t lose heart!  We have every indication that more homes will be coming on the market at the beginning of the year and more sellers will jump in as the weather warms up.  Moreover, even if interest rates are trending higher, they are still at a historic low point which makes investing in real property still a good idea.

If you are just starting to think about searching for a home, I have a great tool that will help you monitor the market on a daily or weekly basis so you know what homes are out there. It is free and easy to set up. And while you are gauging the market, you need to get your finances in order.  Sellers expect you to have pre-approval for your mortgage when you make an offer. We are happy to recommend lenders who will find you the most favorable rate and terms possible.  And we know organizations that can help subsidize your down payment if circumstances dictate. Once you have your financing lined up you will be ready to jump when the right house comes along.

As both a First-Time Home Buyer Specialist and a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® I have the skills needed to guide you through the residential sales process.  Please get in touch if I can help.
